Ceramic foam filters

Ceramic foam filters are used in the metallurgical and foundry industries for purification of molten metal from nonmetallic inclusions and oxide films, which contributes to the elimination of many shortcomings, to improve the quality of the metal, the decrease in the number of marriage in the casting and other production problems.

The use of filters provides:

  • The increase in uniformity of the internal structure of the metal;

  • Improved mechanical properties;

  • The elimination of metallurgical defects (gas shell, porosity, leakage);

  • Improving the quality of the surface.

  • A significant improvement of the mechanical properties of products, reducing the costs of processing them;

  • The decrease in the number of marriage.

OOO "Spetsogneuporkomplekt" offers ceramic foam filters of three-dimensional structure of various shapes (round, oval, rectangle, square), sizes, thickness (12-50 mm) and porosity (8-70 ppi-pores per linear inch) -- depending on the needs and requests of customers.

The temperature of the filters -- to 1700on theS (short-term use possible at higher temperatures). For optimum efficiency filters required pre-heating.

Ceramic foam filters are available in three types, which are made on the basis of:

  • aluminium oxide (for filtering aluminium at a temperature of up to 1150°C);

  • zirconium dioxide (for filtering of steel and alloys, which are based on Nickel and cobalt at temperatures up to 1700°C). Special application -- the casting of magnesium;

  • carbide cuOmnia (to filter high-strength and malleable cast iron and non-ferrous metals at temperatures up to 1420°C).

For particularly critical products can be used in duplex filters, the hallmark of which is the combination of two types of porosity within a filter standard size: 10/30 PPI porosity with sizes from D to 100*25 mm.

Perhaps the use of filters at various points in the casting system: horizontally or vertically on a course at the base of the sprue or profit.

In addition, during casting, due to the three-dimensional structure of the filter, the metal flow effectively stabiliziruemost, the form should be completed more smoothly and evenly. Due to this significantly reduces the deoxidation of metal in the shape and erosion of sand.
